John has always been one of the popular and most known kids in school growing up, along with his childhood friend Hercules. He was infamous for being a big flirt, apparently both among students and teachers, within the school and outside. He was also known for being a tease, having way too much fun with just driving others up the wall, and always getting into some sort of trouble wherever he went.  Apparently he enjoyed doing all the ‘wrong’ stuff too much for his own good.
Being close friends with Herc, Smith did too on some occasion join in bullying the less lucky ones, but unlike his best friend he never used his fist, or any sort of violence. He knew exactly what to say or comment to bring someone down. Though most of those times he’d mostly stand bored in background, playing around on his phone while Hercules was busy making someone’s life miserable.
John was not just all talk though, as he’s proved and showed more than anyone could keep track off that he's in fact way more action than false words, making the rumors about him being a crazy and unafraid kid seem more real and believable. He’s even at times stood up to Hercules when he’s been in his more foul moods and calmed the bigger guy down, and stopped him from beating some poor kids to death. The rare times he had bothered that is.

In their later school years, John and Hercules had grown close friends with Cale as well. The times John wasn’t fooling around with someone he was most of the time seen with them. John was never the relationship-type-of-guy, he much more preferred one night stands (which he apparently could get whenever he felt like it.) He did have an off and on thing going with Ariel a couple of times, but never got real serious with her. But not too long before the shooting, there was one girl that managed to catch John’s real interest. For the first time John actually wanted more. But then it all had gone downhill, without any sort of explanations.
Smith had been skipping some classes, and been outside taking a smoke when he had heard the first gunshots, quickly followed by the screams.  Without thinking he had rushed back inside the school, horrified at awaiting scene that greeted him. Yet he kept running past it all, only thinking about finding the others.
When he did find them, he for once wished that he hadn’t loved danger so much. He found her on the floor, soaked in her blood, unmoving. And not far away he saw to his own horror Cale, a close friend he trusted and knew, killing every student he passed without even blinking. Cale perhaps hadn’t notice him back then, and had disappeared further down the hall with blood trails after himself.  

John vanished for a few weeks afterwards without as much as word to anyone. Only after somehow snapping out of his shock did he visit Hercules at the hospital. He didn’t say much, just mentioned something about travelling, needing to get away.
The following years until he received the invitation he was out exploring and travelling around the world, living life to the fullest, just like he always wanted. He never allows himself to think back to the incident, and the few times he did or if someone were to ask him about it, his cheerful smile would turn cold and dark. He would either ignore the question altogether, or if he was in a bad mood, scare the shit out of the poor one who asked.
He thought 4 years of avoiding the horrible incident was more than enough, and decided to accept the invitation. If not only to meet up with old friends, but hopefully to finally accept what happened and let go of all the bottled up anger and sadness.
Somehow.



Personality: John has always been carefree and adventurous, never been seen or known to stay in one place for too long before moving on to explore somewhere new. He’s a curious soul, with the thirst for excitement and therefor hardly ever afraid of anything. Before the incident, he simply enjoyed putting himself in trouble for the sheer thrill he got out of it. Now however, it would seem he does it more to show himself that he’s not afraid …
He’s cocky, self-centered, laid-back, cheerful and apparently very random according his closest friends, seeing as he’s more than one occasion shown to be unpredictable even with his usual flirtatious and unserious side.
(He’s also a secret animal lover)

Family: John is the youngest amongst three brothers. His parents divorced when he was around the age of 5, nowadays he barely talks to any of his family members.
